A lovely example of a top quality London movement by Richard Leach of Great Tower Street, who is recorded as working from 1832 to 1863, with his son Richard working between 1869 and 1881. The features of the movement suggest that this clock was made by the father towards the end of his career.

The flame mahogany case and matching bracket is outstanding. Although there is some veneer cracking to the top of the case, this has been well fed and secured. It does not detract from the patina of the clock. The bracket is solid and well made with a robust mounting featuring three top holes and a bottom anchor.

The movement is a high quality London eight day twin fusee movement driven by chains. It has rack striking on a bell and features a star wheel and jumper mechanism to ensure striking accuracy. It has shaped bridges and cocks and a comma shaped hammer. It features a pendulum keeper for transportation.

It is a lovely example of the best bracket clock movements and was a pleasure to restore, clean and service in our workshops.

The overall height of the clock is just under 38 cm (15 inches). It is 29 ½ cm (11 ½ inches) wide and measures 16 cm (6 ¼ inches) from front to back. Overall, with its bracket it measures nearly 58 cm (23 inches) top to bottom and is an impressive statement for any room design. It is available for sale at £3,450.
